It’s funny… probably every artist at some point has been told by enthusiastic listeners that he/she sounds like or reminds them of another artist.  Sometimes they’re right on the money. Sometimes they’re drunk.  I’ve heard everything from Sam Cooke (flattered, humbled) to “dude, you sound just like Ben Folds!” (drunk).  By the 5^th or 6^th time I hear the same name from different people I figure it’s worth investigating.  Last night it was Richie Havens whom ironically I had a chance to see in Toronto last June, but declined because I was a little low on funds and didn’t know enough about him.

So here I go… about to embark on an explorative journey through Richie Haven’s musical catalogue, which will likely result in a few new cover tunes at Symphony Space on Saturday nights.
